I’m neither in nor from New Orleans, but like a lot of goth folk of my age, I have a sentimentality toward the Crescent City. Mostly because of a phenominal author of horror novels – and probably not the one you are thinking of.
So here’s my Mardi Gras moment.

What a Great Moment

I like all the different colours here and how you’re partly hiding your boobs, but still giving us the peek of your nipples

Which horror author? First thought is Anne Rice but that is too obvious. My gut wonders Lovecraft? I haven’t read enough of him to know. Deborah Harkness uses New Orleans in several of her stories but she is not horror.
The Big Easy is a wonderful backdrop for many genres. It is also a great city of decadence, debauchery, sensuality, and LIFE! In big bites.
Thanks for the pic and the reminder of a place I love but haven’t ever spent more than a moment in time.

Lovecraft is a New England writer. If he ever mentioned New Orleans it would have been brief.
I figured most people would think of Rice, and I’ve read a lot of her vampire novels, too. But I was referring to Poppy Z Brite. Her vampire novel was set there as was her serial killer novel.
I found Brite’s books at the right age and time in my life for them to have a lasting impact
